A Wake for Toots Hibbert, Reggae Forefather
"Toots was always someone who was happy to say hello and give you a big
hug. When we were working in Jamaica, his wife would come to the studio
and bring food for everyone. He was just a beautiful spirit. He invented
the term “reggae,” and how many artists can take credit for naming a
genre? Who invented the term “rock and roll”? I don’t know who invented
the phrase “grunge.” It’s crazy to think I knew someone in my lifetime
that actually created a word that a great deal of the world knows."
