Top 10 April Fool’s hoaxes

Each day we are bombarded with events which are stranger than fiction – too odd, terrible or deranged to be the product of a human imagination.
But on one day a year, we hear a wildly wacky item of news, pause to let the fact seep in, and then in a moment of sweetness realise it’s nothing more than a piece of seasonal piffle.
April 1 makes normality seem beautiful and special, and nobody’s a fool for enjoying that.
For more than 2,000 years, Persians have played pranks on each other at picnics on April 1 or 2, while Flemish children traditionally lock out their parents and refuse entry until offered treats.
